Found adjacent and connected to Hawkins Variety Store, Southern Specialties occupies the other half of the old Owens-Stelle building built about 1909. Owner, Dewayne Gray, has created a comfortable setting that harkens back to the turn of the century. In 2001, he added the classic, 100 year old, wooden display cases from the historic Hack's Jeweler's in Texarkana, TX. The massive cases and offices are spectacular just to see! It's like walking into a living museum.

Dewyane stocks 10 and 14 KT gold and sterling silver jewelry. In addition to the fine jewelry you can even purchase un-cut diamonds found at the Crater of Diamonds State Park. Local prospectors display their finds here. There is a broad range of diamond sizes (and prices) and one might be very surprised to see what a "Diamond in the Rough" actually looks like! And Dewayne offers jewelry repair as well!
